North Dakota Board Members

 The Board consists of three members who serve three-year terms, with one term expiring each year.

 

 

Richard Odegard, DVM

President

Grand Forks, ND

Dr. Rick Odegard graduated from Iowa State University in 1982 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He was licensed in the state of North Dakota in 1982. In June of 1985 he bought Forx Veterinary Clinic and re-named it Kindness Animal Hospital. Dr. Odegard is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and has served as First Vice President and President of the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association.  He is certified in performing TPLO surgeries and has a strong interest in orthopedic surgeries.

Frank Walker, DVM

New Rockford, ND

Dr. Frank Walker graduated from Iowa State University in 1977 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and was licensed in the of state North Dakota that year.  Dr. Walker is an active member of the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association and has served on a variety of committees, and as secretary from 2003 to present.  In 2004 he was elected to the AVMA Council on Education.  He was first appointed to the North Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners in 2003.  For the past 25+ years, he has operated a private mixed animal practice with an emphasis on large animals.  His expertise is with cow-calf herd health.

Thomas Bettenhausen, DVM

Bismarck, ND

Dr. Thomas Bettenhausen graduated from Kansas State University in 1981 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  He was licensed in the state of North Dakota in 1981.  Dr. Bettenhausen is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.  His specialities are orthopedic surgery, TPLO for anterior cruciate rupture, and triple pelvic osteotomy for hip dysplasia. He owns a mixed animal practice and he also enjoys large animal practice.
