Veterinarian Licensure Exam Process

Candidates for licensure should follow the instructions given under Veterinarian Licensure Application Process.

The examination is divided into two parts:

  • A paper examination covering North Dakota laws and regulations governing the practice of veterinary medicine. This is an open book exam. A copy of the North Dakota Board Rules and Practice Act will be mailed to you when the Board receives your completed application. Bring these with you as a reference during the exam.
  • An oral interview with the Board. The Board will interview each candidate in the order in which they complete their written exam.

After each candidate meets with the board, the candidates will meet with USDA officials at the USDA offices in Bismarck for a review of federal accreditation policies and procedures. A map to their offices will be provided.

Please contact the Board office if you have any questions.
