60-Day temporary Permit - Nonresident Validly Licensed in Another Jurisdiction

A nonresident veterinarian validly licensed in another state or foreign country who pays the the fee established and published by the board may be issued a temporary permit for a period of no more than sixty (60) days. No more than one permit may be issued during each calendar year.

To apply for this type of permit, you must:

• Complete the application form below.
• Pay the appropriate fees for the permit application. The cost of the permit is $40.00.
• Provide a copy of all valid licenses to practice issued by another state, province, foreign country.

The permit will be issued by the Executive Secretary of the North Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. No permit will be granted to an applicant if they have previously failed the North Dakota Examination. Please note that this permit does not allow you to do the work of an accredited veterinarian. You need to complete the orientation program administered by the USDA before you can you can work as an accredited veterinarian in the state of North Dakota.
